Dr. Susovan Jana is an accomplished academic and researcher in the field of Computer Science and Engineering, currently serving as an Associate Professor at the Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM), Kolkata. He holds a Ph.D. (Engineering) from Jadavpur University and has previously earned M.Tech. from Jadavpur University and B.Tech. from GCETTS with distinction. With over a decade of combined experience in industry and academia, Dr. Jana brings a unique blend of practical and theoretical expertise. He began his professional journey as an Application Developer at IBM India Pvt. Ltd., where he received multiple performance accolades. His teaching portfolio spans a wide range of core subjects, including DBMS, Data Structure & Algorithms, Software Engineering, Object Oriented Programming (Java/C++), IT Workshop (MATLAB), Computer Graphics, Machine Learning, Image Processing, and Internet of Things. Dr. Jana’s research focuses on Machine Learning, Image Processing, Medical Imaging, Pattern Recognition, and Multimedia Systems. He has published extensively, with over 27 conference papers, 5 journal articles, and 4 book chapters. He is also an active reviewer for reputed journals and conferences, having evaluated over 45 manuscripts. Passionate about academic outreach, Dr. Jana frequently delivers invited talks and conducts workshops on emerging technologies like IoT, AI, and MATLAB. He has organized numerous FDPs and technical events, and currently serves as Assistant Head of the CSE (IoT) Department at IEM. Recognized for his academic excellence, he ranked second in both his undergraduate and postgraduate programs and has qualified GATE. His recent keynote on "Future of Industry 4.0" underscores his thought leadership in converging AI, ML, and IoT. Dr. Jana has also played a pivotal role in curriculum development and examination processes at several prestigious institutions, including Jadavpur University, National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Kolkata and National Council of Science Museums (NCSM). As an active contributor to academic communities, he established and coordinates the IETE Students’ Forum at IEM. His work continues to inspire students, researchers, and professionals alike in the domain of intelligent computing and next-generation technologies.
